Shops, restaurants, and cafes in the largest city of Tangipahoa Parish come together every Carnival Season to support local and party with friends. Let’s be real, everyone in (and around) Hammond knows how to get in the Mardi Gras spirit too!

(1) Courtyard Cafe for the King Cake Latte.
Your first stop should be a local cafe known for its savory and sweet crepes. Kick off your morning with their King Cake Latte. It’s a delicious way to start your day and celebrate Mardi Gras. Hot or iced, it’s the perfect mix of Carnival (hint: the edible sparkles), cinnamon, and of course...coffee.

(2) Sweet Rolls for the King Cake Roll
King cake calories don’t count, so you can count in Sweet Rolls--the most unique dessert shop in town. Their spin on the traditional purple, green, and gold cake is nothing short of sweet. Not only do you get to watch the crew craft ice cream rolls right before your eyes, but you can enjoy the experience with the whole family too!

Raise your hand if you’ve always wanted to make your very own King Cake? Just like Sweet Rolls, you can take part in a one-of-a-kind experience not far from downtown.
Berry Town Produce offers a King Cake class where from start to finish, you are guided on your journey to making your very own king cake! When you walk in, prepare to be shocked. One important cake making necessity is missing. That’s right, no ovens required.
This fried king cake is not only a hit, but the class is the perfect surprise date night, team building workshop, or fun night out just because!

(4) The Cocoa Bean Bakery & Cafe for an Apple Hand Pie
If Mardi Gras themed snacks are what you’re after, Cocoa Bean is where you want to be. Fresh, and cooked to perfection, this Apple Hand Pie will have you craving more! With a flaky crust and gooey inside, this snack is as tasty as it looks. For those who love a filled king cake, Cocoa Bean offers the perfect twist on a traditional favorite.
Just a quick drive from downtown, Cocoa Bean Bakery & Cafe is located at 910 E. Morris Ave in Hammond, Louisiana. Pick up your Carnival themed snacks to go or eat inside!
(5) Doughlicious Donut for the King Cake Donut
Doughlicious Donuts’ King Cake Donut makes for a perfect Mardi Gras day breakfast when paired with Courtyard Cafe’s King Cake Latte. The breakfast of true Mardi Gras champions. This warm, fried donut topped with a light and fluffy icing is your own personal king cake that we would NOT recommend sharing! It’s that good.

(6) La Carreta for the Mardi Gras-Rita
Feeling fun and festive? So is your local Carreta’s family! Serving up Mardi Gras-Ritas complete with icing and sprinkles, La Carreta’s is always ready for a fiesta. This margarita features king cake icing on the rim with festive sprinkles, kiwi, lemon, and pear flavors, and of course...tequila. Pair that with chips and salsa and you’ve got the perfect afternoon on the patio--no additional planning needed!

Obsession Boutique just turned six years old and has become a staple in the Hammond community. In Hammond Square Mall next to Great American Cookie is where you can find this cute, local boutique! You can even shop their sister store, Tailored, a little further down.
(8) The Krewe of Omega Parade for a Great Time
If you haven’t attended Hammond’s only parade of the season, you’re missing out! The Krewe of Omega has been hosting this family-friendly parade for over 30 years!.
From local high school bands marching to prominent government officials dancing-- you’ll see it all at this one-of-a-kind parade!
